If you are an astronomy hobbyist, and your are looking for some resources and information that could help you. Here is a short list of useful links that I've found so far, I hope they'll will be helpful for you too.
Night Sky Network
The Night Sky Network is a website supported by nation wide amateur astronomy clubs and sponsored by Nasa and that aim to share knowledge in space science and technology with the general public. Here you can find resources like events calendar, links, documents such as lectures, presentations, articles etc., a list of astronomy clubs nation wide, so you can find the nearest to you.
Earth Sky
Earth Sky is a website dedicated to publish science content in fields such as biodiversity, water, energy, health and space. It's also supported by many scientific institutions like Discovery News, NASA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Geological Society of America, etc.
Besides the Space section, Earth Sky offers the "Tonight" section. Here you will find suggestions of what you can see every day at night. In the right area of the page you'll find a calendar, so you can choose a date and see the recommendation for that day.
Meteor Shower Flux Stimator
If you know about an upcoming meteor shower, but you're not sure if you will be able to see it in your location or when the peak hours are, the fluxtimator is your solution.
It's pretty easy to use. You just have to select the meteor shower's name and date, and your location, and graph will be displayed showing you the best time to see it. But, before you start using the fluxtimator, make sure that your browser has installed the Java Virtual Machine or it won't be loaded.
In addition, if your location is not in the list, you can press the other button and add your coordinates.
NASA's Solar System Exploration
If you want to learn about our Solar System, missions sent to explore another planets or upcoming events, Solar System Exploration website is a good source or information.
Stellarium
Stellarium is sky chart software that is free and open source. It's available for linux, MAC and Windows.
It shows you a map of what you can see at a specific time in the sky. You just have to set your location and time.
